giffydoll: My day at work, so far

10.16am I'm so hungry, I must eat my lunch now! I'll still be hungry at lunch-time though, so will have to buy a sandwich or something. I knew I should have eaten breakfast! It is the weekend for you guys already. I is Jealous. pootle, poootle, pootle. Work is incredibly quiet. I have been here for over an hour and the phone has rung *once*. Everyone else wandered in late and I bet they leave early too. Unfair! I have many packets of biscuits inthe drawer next to me and they are calling my name! No! You seductive sirens, I shall not succumb to your wiles. 10.20am Second phonecall of the day! Ok, I've eaten *one* of my sandwiches, that should last me until my morning tea break. I'll get a cup of tea and a biscuit then. Just *one*... maybe two. I stopped having sugar in my tea though! That surely counts for something. Time for some mindsweeper and spider solitaire. There is no foodblogday today. I didn't feel like it. I did blog some nonsense though. I also have many photos to deal with. Le sigh. Thu, Jul. 3rd, 2008, 08:49 am

Stolen from Demelza... If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, even if we don't speak often, please post a comment with a memory of you and me. It can be anything you want, either good or bad. I promise not to come after you with a baseball bat, either way.
When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) about what people remember about you.I wonder if any responses to that will be non-drunken stories... Anyway. Got myself a shiny new toy at home, nice big screen and lots of power. Most pleased. The nifty little remote on which I can call up all 1,350 of my music videos or songs or even any recent movie preview I like (I have no idea if it stores them or downloads them from an online store) is particularly fun. The extended Dark Knight preview looks AWESOME. I cannot wait. Also got the Something Wicked This Way Comes compilation (as well as the new Angelspit album) yesterday. Great little digipack, very nicely done. The Shudder Club, Nullity and The Mercy Cage stand out in particular but Radia and Ikon's tracks are nice softer numbers. Most pleased. My boots haven't arrived yet. I am disappointed. I should be getting them any day now apparently, which is good as my old ones try and eat anything they stand on, they're split right through to my foot now. Still serviceable enough for wearing to work or to metal gigs, try and give the new ones a bit of a longer lease on life. I have recently been informed about a band called I:Scintilla. Female vocals over rock/electronic soundscapes that stand out from most of the similar bands I've heard. Nice full sound. Shudder Club and them have been on high rotation while at work. New musical discoveries ftw. My credit card is almost paid off. It's clothes shopping time. Ever since I started doing calisthenics (and have now joined up to the gym as of last night), I've been gaining muscle mass and half my clothes don't fit. With my kind of clothes, that's a very expensive problem. Heh. A nice excuse to buy new things, I think. Plans are in motion and almost finalised. Though how the fuck do I find a pair of leather pants that'll fit like I want? The chances of a pair from online fitting right is pretty damned small and I don't know anyone in Wellington who I'd trust to make them up for me. Hmmm. Must ponder that one...

I've finished up at work. Today was pretty neat. Lots of cleaning though. It's amazing how dusty an office can get. :) My morning tea went well, I think. It's always a bit awkward when people are saying nice things about you. You don't really know where to look. Maybe that's just me. Still planning to make it to the occasional coffee meet. I'm probably going to be on campus anyway. :D It feels weird after three years working there. I highly recommend it, by the way. The university environment is a great place to work in. The work itself was a bit boring at times, but the people were always great. They just seemed more genuine than those I've worked with in the past. It was refreshing.

My phone has seemingly limitless capacity for learning predictive text messaging. I think it's doing some kind of funky markov-chaining algorithm. If I accidentally delete a message, and start writing it out again, it can generally auto-predict the entire thing. Unfortunately, I can't work out how to make it forget certain things. So now, whenever I try to type the word 'I', it completes it as "4real" and it's a pain in the ass to fix. Also now, for reasons I don't need to go into, whenever I start *any* word beginning with the letter 't' it immediately auto-completes as 'Top-secret-ninja-commando'. Which is awesome, but a little tedious to correct. Fri, Jun. 27th, 2008, 11:35 pm

I'm baaaaack... You poor bastards. So, Auckland huh? Horrible rain and hail, miserable and glum...punctuated by thunder and lightning, making the weather totally worthwhile. There's something primal about the all-encompassing flash of light followed by a blast of bassy rumbling, shaking the entire building you're in. Admittedly it's not hard to do when you're in a tincan with a motel sign and not much else...but you get the idea. So yes. My love of storms aside, Auckland was boring. I sincerely hope that experience isn't repeated anytime soon. 3 nights of fuckall sleep has left me profoundly exhausted and with so much time built up just lying there in the dark thinking that I'm in the mood to get things done. For instance, I have every intention of buying a new computer today/tomorrow. 17 months interest free/no repayments is too tempting to pass up and considering my old clunker is getting ridiculously slow (and is always full to the brim)... It's about damned time. I miss all my metal and music vids. I've actually started designing something again as well! Admittedly it's just some clothing that I'm trying to get made up (though I may be reaching a bit far) but it's a start. So yes, motivation levels are rising for once. All that being said, I really want a drink.

So it turns out I'm probably going to be playing A grade next league. Freya's list* was the draft list for the team Carson was planning on putting together. He asked me if I wanted to play last night. I guess there is no harm in it. It would be nice to have another woman on the roster though. At the moment it's just myself and Kiri. It should be a fun team, though potentially exhausting. * Which seems to have been edited now...

Right, so apparently if I try to sell this damn movie on Trademe I'll get banned. Just because it doesn't have the NZ film classification label. Of course it doesn't, it's fucking German. So, who wants a German dubbed version of Dogma (on VHS)? Probably great fun for anyone who knows a little German and wants to hear Jay's rants overdubbed at six hundred miles an hour with many a 'scheiße!' to be had. Free to a good home, since I'm probably not allowed to sell it, y'know, because it doesn't have a sticker. Tue, Jun. 24th, 2008, 10:29 pm

Well, we lost our game against vic by 1 point at the 1 second count down after D-ing the disc unsuccessfully. Gutting, They were fielding their best line-up, and the whole game was tight. We were up by three at one stage, but lost it again. A draw would have resulted in a win , but we were 1 second away from managing that. The next game was exciting as a win by YBS of less than 5 would have been a victory for us. Unfortunately they won by 11 points, after sitting at the 4 point difference for most of the game. So, second it is.
